Chapter 1
The Invasion

Irvnarkkis, a red skinned Ssi-Ruu sauroid, lay on his large bunk in the Ssi-Ruuvi military instillation on the Imperium's most remote planet, Ssi-maaret. The large, two meter tall sauroid-soldier wondered why the Imperium had a base on this planet. The planet was cold for Ssi-Ruuvi standards; a little above the freezing point of water on a bad day, and almost warm on a good day… in the winter.
Irvnarkkis looked out the transparisteel window next to his bunk, and stared into the clear night. The wind kicked up great clouds of snow, and created small vortexes out over the plain. Irvnarkkis looked up into the now-familiar sky, and watched the stars and satellites cross the black fabric called space. As Irvnarkkis was studying, stars appeared out of nowhere, in a sector of the sky where hyperspace traffic was uncommon. This immediately set the sauroid on edge.
The stars grew brighter and large, and eventually formed into the outlines of unfamiliar starships. Red turbolasers suddenly rained down from space, setting off the automatic alarm. Red sauroids sprang from their cots and ran to their battle stations, clipping belts on as they ran.
The Ssi-Ruuk started to fire back, but it was too late. Most of the ground-space turbolasers and ion cannons had already been destroyed by the precision strikes. Blue and green lightning was fired back towards the enemy fleet, but to no avail, as, one after another, the guns were silenced. Irvnarkkis, feeling uneasy but ready, waited with his squad of sauroids in the northern trenches, where, in the night sky, comets came streaking down.
Enemy fighters rained down fire upon the trenches, peppering Irvnarkkis with snow and dirt. Transports started landing, and, as the soldiers watched in horror, hundreds of troopers poured out. But they did not look right to the red sauroids. The enemy stood on two legs, like Irvnarkkis's comrades, but they had no tail to balance them, had small heads, and certainly had weak looking arms and legs- or for whatever passed for them.
The enemy took advantage of the shock that spread from trench to trench. Half of the enemy forces went forward, as the other opened up on the large sauroids. Irvnarkkis was the first to fire back with his blaster rifle, screaming his head off the whole time.
"Fire! Fire you small brained reptiles, or I'll shoot you myself!" The loud whistling and flute noises, Ssi-Ruuvi language, shook the other sauroids out of their shock. Red blaster fire and blue ion paddle beamer fire started to fly at the attackers. As Irvnarkkis sighted down the barrel of his rifle, he saw something in the darkness. A red shaft of light had appeared in the midst of the attackers, wavering a little in the onslaught.
Irvnarkkis fired, and sent a round down the field, right towards the shaft of light. The shaft moved, as if to block it, but the bolt warped itself around the blade, and slammed into a body behind it. It screamed, and the horrible, low pitched sound disgusted the sauroids in the trenches. But, even as the sauroids thought that they had killed off the leader, another shaft of light, and another, and another, ignited. This time, though, the men holding the blades did not try to block the bolts flying towards them. They erected some sort of invisible shield, and absorbed the bolts.
As the aliens with the blades of light fell upon the glorious forces of the Ssi-Ruuk, the Ssi-Ruuk realized there was no hope of victory or escape. Hundreds of red scaled sauroids were cut down, or else shot by blaster. As Irvnarkkis yelled for his men, for he was a Sergeant, they were cut down beside him. Irvnarkkis stared in horror as his friends and comrades bled out, lay screaming, or mercifully died. His horror cost him: he was hit by two blaster bolts, and sprawled out onto the dirt, feeling his life force ebb away. No, he thought, I shall not die!!
This was Irvnarkkis's last though as he drifted into unconciousness. The rest of the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium would soon learn of the Sith invasion, and would prepare for a war of all out survival.
Well, here's the opening chapter to my new Star Wars fan-fiction: Rise of Irvnarkkis (pronounced errv-NAR-kiss). Hope you enjoy! =D
